Q. What is Lehigh Giving Day?

Lehigh’s 6th Annual Giving Day is an intensive, 24-hour event to rally our Lehigh Community of alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and others to make an impact on scholarships, student experiences, and more at Lehigh University.

Giving Day’s success is based on its community engagement, where all members of the Lehigh Community are challenged to support what they love at Lehigh University, and make a gift, no matter the size, that will add up to make a huge impact!


Q. When is Lehigh University Giving Day?

Lehigh University Giving Day is on April 19, 2023 from midnight to 11:59 PM.


Q. Why is my gift important?

Your generosity drives Lehigh’s distinctive student experience and represents an investment in our students. With your gift, you can help support academic and student-life programs, athletics, and much more. Gifts to the Lehigh Fund are particularly important because they are directed toward the university’s greatest priorities, such as financial aid and scholarships, and keep Lehigh agile and competitive.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone may donate. Donations through the Lehigh University Giving Day online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.


Q. Where will my gift go?

You tell us! Select the tile representing what you are interested in supporting. You can then search for a department or program or scroll through the designations offered. Your gift will be designated for use in that area. You can split your gift across a few designations or adjust the amount of your gift along the way.


Q. How else can I support Lehigh’s Giving Day?

Spread the word, and sign-up to be a Lehigh University Giving Day Ambassador! Let your peers know that you stepped up and made a gift on Giving Day, and encourage them to do the same. Point out the class competitions to your classmates (and your rivals), talk up Giving Day on Facebook and Twitter, or send a quick message to friends. The more, the merrier! Be sure to include our #LehighGivingDay


Q I've also heard of Lehigh Crowdfunding.  Will my gift to Giving Day count towards crowdfunding totals?

Lehigh Crowdfunding is a powerful network of philanthropy that supports student-driven initiatives, which positively impacts the Lehigh community and our students' experience at Lehigh.  During this spring crowdfunding timeline, these initiatives have the unique experience to fundraise over Giving Day!  All Lehigh Crowdfunding projects have been added to the Giving Day site under "Student-Led Crowdfunding Initiatives".  Using the search bar, you can either search for "Crowdfunding" or a specific project name. 


Q. Do my gifts towards March Mania count?

Gifts made to March Mania do not count towards Giving Day. Even though they are treated separately, there are still other ways to get involved. Giving Day has many donor count related challenges, so any gift amount helps us reach those goals. You can also participate by encouraging others to give by becoming a fundraiser or by helping us generate excitement by posting about Giving Day using #lehighgivingday.


Q. If I give online, is my information secure?

Yes. Our online giving site is completely secure and all your information is kept private and safe.


Q. Can I make a gift “in honor” or “in memory” of someone?

Yes. If you'd like to make a gift "In honor/memory of," please contact Donor Relations at (800) 523-0565.


Q. My employer has a matching gift program. Can Giving Day gifts be matched?

Yes. You will need to follow your company’s guidelines for submission. If you are not sure whether your employer matches gifts, you can check by entering your company in our matching gift look-up or check with your employer. Matching gifts do not count toward Giving Day totals, but do count toward your donor recognition.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit https://www.lehighgivingday.com on your mobile device.


Q. Is my Giving Day contribution tax-deductible?

Yes. When you make your gift, you will receive an email confirmation that serves as a receipt for tax purposes. If you need a receipt resent, please contact us at (866) 758-ALUM or email Lehigh’s Information Processing team at askrecords@lehigh.edu


Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for Lehigh University Giving Day?

You cannot pre-schedule your Lehigh University Giving Day gift, but you may make a donation to a participating nonprofit before or after the Lehigh University Giving Day. In order for your donation to be counted towards prize incentives awarded on Lehigh University Giving Day it must be made between midnight at 11:59 p.m. on April 19, 2023.

Q. How do I become an Ambassador Fundraiser?

You can become an ambassador fundraiser by choosing the unit you would like to support and clicking the "fundraise" button. From there you will be able to customize your own fundraising page and share your unique link with your network.


Q. I'm having trouble creating an Ambassador Fundraising page. Who do I contact?

If you are having trouble accessing your fundraising dashboard, contact GiveGab support by clicking the chat bubble icon in the bottom right corner of the screen or email customersuccess@givegab.com.
